I Don't Know About You, But I'm Feeling 22

{Dress: Forever 21 | Peacoat: Anthrologie, similar | Knee-High Socks: Urban Outfitters | Shoes: Steve Madden, similar | Purse: Rebecca Minkoff | Bracelets: Alex and Ani}

I thought it was appropriate to use a Taylor Swift reference (she's also been my girl crush since her new album came out). Yup, today I turn 22. Usually the week leading up to my birthday I'm overly ecstatic--birthdays are a huge deal to me. But, for some reason, I wasn't that excited this year. I'm turning the big two-two (is that a thing?)...there's no sparkle to that number. Turning 21 was monumental, but this year I just thought I was getting old (I have the grey hairs to prove it too). Then, I realized, that 22 can be just as monumental. Big things are going to be happening to me this year. So, instead of moping about getting older, I decided to make a list of how awesome this next year is going to be.

  1. In three weeks I'm going to begin my last semester of college.
  2. In May, I'm going to be graduating from one of the best universities in the nation for public relations (ranked #3 to be exact)--Go Gators!
  3. This means I don't have to write any more terms papers or cram for exams.
  4. I'm moving to NYC (ah!) the moment I walk off stage with my diploma in hand--going to miss you gatorville.
  5. Moving to NYC means finally starting my career in public relations. I was taught so much about my career here at UF, and I can't wait to put what I learned into practice.
  6. NYC is going to be the backdrop to my blog pictures now.
  7. I'll get my first paycheck...how much do they remove for taxes??
  8. That also means I'll be paying for my own rent, food, clothing--yay for adulthood!
  9. I get to go to Ikea and decorate my new apartment however I want.
  10. And I get to sing "22" for a year and no one can give me shit about it.

To me, birthdays are also a time to reflect on who I've become. With the values my parents instilled in me, the mistakes I've made and learning from them, and having the best support team, I'm extremely proud of the woman I've grown into these past twenty-two years. I've worked extremely hard to get where I am today and I'm going to continue working even harder to reach my goals. I've heard that your twenties is the most crucial decade in you life, and I agree. The person I was when I was 20 is not the same girl I am today, so I can only imagine how much I'm going to change in the next eight.

Thank you guys for reading this post (I know it was long) and all my other posts! Hearing feedback from you guys is what inspires me to continue blogging, so thank you. Ok, I'm done being sappy. Time to celebrate turning 22 in T-Swizzle fashion--with a pair of cat ears and some wine.
